chowPianist Daniel Chow is one of the most unique talents of his generation, having delighted audiences across North America, Europe and China. He made his solo debut with the UBC Symphony Orchestra in 2001 performing Rachmaninoff’s 3rd Piano Concerto at the Chan Center in Vancouver. Daniel was also featured and broadcast on CBC as part of CBC’s Westcoast Performances.

An advocate of chamber music, Daniel has collaborated with EMI Classics artist Sarah Chang, Naxos artist Howard Zhang and Song artist Denis Djokic and has been featured on NPR broadcast in a chamber recital with cellist Ashley Sidon. While studying at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Daniel learned and performed virtually the entire chamber music repertoire for all orchestral instruments and piano.

Awards received include a Gold Medal from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, multiple BC Arts Council Grants, Vancouver Foundation Grants and prizes from the Canadian Music Competition and the BC Festival of the Arts. Prizes include 3rd in the 21st International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs (Paris, France) and 2nd in the 2011 Boston International Piano Competition.

Academic achievements include a Bachelor of Music from the University of British Columbia, a Master of Music and Artist Diploma from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a Diploma of Technology (Advanced Accounting) from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Daniel qualified as a Chartered Accountant in February 2011 and now works as a Trust Assurance Auditor for The Law Society for British Columbia. Interests and hobbies include hiking, lifting weights at the gym and extreme sports such as snowboarding and skydiving.
