Soprano Marnie Reckenberg has sung with some of the finest choirs in Canada and Germany in concert halls across North America and Europe, including Carnegie Hall, New York; Walt Disney Hall, Los Angeles; Places des Arts, Montreal; Philharmonie Berlin and Essen; Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Paris, and Basilica Santo Giovanni in Laterano, Rome.

After growing up singing with the Powell River Academy choirs and in the Kathaumixw Choral Festivals, Marnie earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Victoria in Solo Voice Performance, and then continued her studies at McGill University in Montreal, earning the Licentiate Diploma and the Masters of Music Degree in Solo Vocal Performance.  Shortly before her graduation from McGill Marnie won places in the Montreal Symphony Orchestra choir, La Chapelle de Quebec, and the Viva Voce Vocal Ensemble of Montreal.  Marnie was also a frequent soloist with Ensemble Voces Boreales of Montreal, and made solo appearances with the St. Lawrence Choir and  Ensemble Masques of Montreal and the choirs of Christ Church Cathedral, Ottawa.  As a church musician Marnie was a cantor and soloist for five years in the choir of St. John the Evangelist Anglo-Catholic Church Montreal, an ensemble that specializes in the singing of Gregorian and Renaissance Liturgical repertoire.

Since 2009 Marnie has lived in Germany, and is a core member of the Gächinger Kantorei, which is the choir of the Bach Akademie Stuttgart and principal Ensemble under the direction of Helmuth Rilling.  Since 2009 she has performed with the Gächinger Kantorei in Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy and Spain.  Marnie is also an auxiliary singer with the Radio Choir of Stuttgart and sings with the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestchor.

The Academy Chamber Choir consists of thirty - six singers from a wide variety of backgrounds and professions. It is an amateur choir that, since its inception in 1994, has developed into one of Canada’s dynamic chamber choirs. The choir specializes in a cappella music from the Middle Ages to the 20th century and regularly commissions new works by Canadian composers. Under the direction of Don James, the Academy Chamber Choir has toured in Venezuela, the Czech Republic, Canada, Mexico, Spain and France.
