Who We Are

The Powell River Academy of Music, a leader in arts education since 1981, is committed to providing excellent training in music, dance, theatre and visual arts to all age groups. An increasing number of adults take part for their own enjoyment and recreation. The Academy has an impressive facility with teaching and practice studios, rehearsal halls, music library, dance studio, recording studio and an excellent performance venue.

Over 600 students and adults take part in a range of classes and programs offered by 24 highly qualified faculty. Individual lessons, group instruction and opportunities to participate in performing ensembles are available. The Academy produces the world renowned International Choral Kathaumixw Festival, the Symphony Orchestra Academy of the Pacific and the annual Academy Concert Series featuring local and international artists.
