Academy Chamber Choir

The Academy Chamber Choir, a twenty-six voice mixed choir is one of Canada's leading vocal ensembles. The choir specializes in a cappella music from the Middle Ages to the 20th century and regularly commissions new worksAcademy Chamber Choir by Canadian composers. Under the director of Don James, the Academy Chamber Choir frequently collaborates with soloists, instrumentalist and other choirs and orchestras in the performance of major choral works.

In the spring of 1999 the choir toured the Czech Republic giving concerts of North American music in Prague and surrounding cities. While in Prague, the choir recorded the Tennyson Suite by Tobin Stokes, an alumni of the Academy with members of the Czech Philharmonic. In 2000 the Academy Chamber Choir and the Orebro Chamber Choir (Sweden) and Seoul National Symphony Orchestra performed  Mendelssohn's’ Elijah at the International Choral Kathaumixw 2000. The choir performed with Sally-Anne Russell mezzo soprano (Australia) and Arthur Arnold cello (The Netherlands) in their 2001 - 2002 season as well as gave concerts in Altea, Spain and nearby cities. The Chamber choir has toured the Venezuela, Czech Republic, Spain,  Sweden, Mexico and France.
