Academy Scholarship Winners
Thirty-two young musicians perform for scholarships at the annual Powell River Academy of Music Scholarship Competition November 19, 2011.
The Powell River Academy of Music holds an annual scholarship competition in November for pianists, vocalists and instrumentalists studying at the Academy. The scholarship money is generously donated by patrons and teachers. The scholarships assist students in their future studies.
The Academy congratulates the following students for their excellent performances and the scholarship winners.
Piano performers included Isabella Colasanto, Owen Jantz, Jayce Shelton, Miranda MacBean, Willemijn Poelen, Annika Harry, Annika Krowitz, Zoe Crookshank, Sophia Milsom, Hannah Schweitzer, Justin Johansen, Taiga Ball and Josiah Schweitzer.
Scholarship recipients for the Marjorie Henry Scholarships
(12 years and under) are Hannah Schweitzer & Jayce Shelton.
Scholarship recipients for the Lillian Dickson Memorial Scholarships (13 to 18 years) are Josiah Schweitzer & Taiga Ball.
Vocal performers included Georgia Murphy, Haedyn Drosdovech, Samantha Baron, Sarah Schweitzer, Breanne Werner, Georgia Murphy, Payton Bradley, Hannah Schweitzer, Ciara Maguire, Tyannika Lam, Tyana Sacree, Elise Hocking and Sheena Slootweg-Langkjar.
Scholarship recipient for the Mr. & Mrs. Richard Hibberd Scholarship (12 years and under) is Ciara Maguire. Scholarship recipient for the Don James Scholarship (13 to 18 years) is Sheena Slootweg-Langkjar
Instrumental performers included Ella Vallance, Jing Zhong, Sydney Rose Brown, Zoe Crookshank, Lynne McDonald and Taya Gable.
Scholarship recipient for the Mr. & Mrs. Derry Simpson Scholarship (12 years and under) is Sydney Rose Brown
Scholarship recipient for the Carriere Scholarship (13 to 18 years) is Lynne McDonald.
