About the Artists

meagan&amy (meaganandamy.com), the vibrant Canadian duo consisting of pianist Meagan Milatz and violinist Amy Hillis, are the winners of the first-ever “Pan-Canadian Partnership” tour presented by Jeunesses Musicales Canada, Debut Atlantic and Prairie Debut. As a result, the duo embarked on a 2019/2020 tour to 50 different Canadian cities in ten provinces. Featured in a national broadcast on CBC's In Concert in May 2020, their playing has been described as “both fearless and nuanced” (Toronto Concert Reviews). Their debut album, Roots, was released in September 2019 with the generous support of the Canada Council for the Arts.

Both hailing from Saskatchewan, pianist Meagan Milatz and violinist Amy Hillis first performed together in 2011 at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University. As individual artists, they are both winners of the Sylva Gelber Foundation Award and the McGill Concerto Competition, and have both been featured on CBC's list of "30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30".

Amy Hillis has "a rich, warm sound and has mastered the violin with such ease, that it is impossible to ignore her passion in performance" (Ludwig Van Montréal). As a soloist, she has commissioned and premiered new Canadian works by Fjola Evans, Gabriel Dufour-Laperrière, Laurence Jobidon, Vincent Ho, Andrew Staniland, Jocelyn Morlock, Nicole Lizée, Carmen Braden, Randolph Peters and Jordan Pal. She is winner of the Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition, an artistic residency at La Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, the McGill Concerto Competition, and the Sylva Gelber Foundation Music Award.  Amy is currently Professor of Music and the Helen Carswell Chair in Community-Engaged Research in the Arts at York University.

Pianist Meagan Milatz is quickly emerging as one of the most sought-after collaborative artists in the country. She regularly shares the stage with top international musicians including violinist Andrew Wan, hornist Stefan Dohr, and cellist Matt Haimovitz. In May 2022, Meagan appeared in concert in Spain with Kai Gleusteen, concertmaster of the Orchestra del Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona, and she was named pianist of Montreal's Trio Fibonacci in 2021. Meagan has also appeared as soloist with orchestras across Canada including the Regina Symphony Orchestra in May 2019, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, l’Orchestre symphonique de Sherbrooke, and the McGill Symphony Orchestra.
