COVID 19 Policy

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the Academy for our 2020/2021 season. All lessons at the Academy will follow the recommendations from Worksafe BC, Vancouver Coastal Health Authorities and the BC Center for Disease Control. Our faculty are working hard to adapt their lesson plans to provide a safe, exciting educational music experience for all within these guidelines.

Signs are posted throughout the building as a reminder of hand washing and distancing measures.

Any safety concerns or issues can be sent by email to info@powellriveracademy.org and will be forwarded to the appropriate department.

Academy Faculty, Staff, Students and Volunteers all have a responsibility to prevent exposure to COVID-19 at the Powell River Academy of Music.

Anyone who has had symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 10 days must inform the office and self-isolate at home. Symptoms include fever, chills, new or worsening cough, shortness of breath, sore throat and new muscle aches or headache and under the direction of the provincial health officer must self-isolate. For non-medical information about COVID-19, call 1-888-COVID19 (1-888-268-4319), 7:30am-8pm, 7 days a week.

Any staff or student who show symptoms of illness while in the building will be placed in an isolated room prior to their exit from the school. Parents are asked to pick up sick children as quickly as possible.

The following guidelines and protocols have been put in place for the security and safety of all.
